Turks
& Caicos// Herculean labours relieved
In pursuit of his twelve
Labours, while attempting to obtain the Golden Apples
from the Hesperides Nymphs, Hercules removed (for
a time) the weight of the world from Atlas's shoulders.
Relieve the weight of the world from upon your own
shoulders and enjoy the many tempting pursuits:
Scuba Diving:
The Turks & Caicos have become known as a special
location for Scuba Diving. The geographical formation
of the islands, rising 7000 feet from the ocean
floor, creates a reef "Wall". The most well know
portions of the island's platforms are the Caicos
Bank and the Turks Bank.
To illustrate, the vertical drop begins less than
a quarter of a mile from the harbours at Leeward
- or just beyond the main reef (in the distance),
that the Villa overlooks. The main reef crests at
just 30-35 feet, giving a spectacular display as
the open ocean crashes into the Wall. The Villa
has several books on local Diving and Marine Life.
TCI boasts healthy and protected coral reefs, spectacular
drop-offs, great visibility and warm water. Its
location allows for a rich diversity of sea life:
from Whales, dolphin or mantas to the broad spectrum
of native Caribbean fish species. There are also
speciality Nitrox diving facilities available on
island.

Sailing & Watersport:
The Grace Bay provides a watersport focal point
for Providenciales. The resorts on the beach offer
sailboat rentals, Windsurfers and Para-sailing
for those all interested. There are also Catamaran
charters and Day-Skipper charters available.

Sun
& Sand:
Beyond the privacy of the Villa's swimming Pool
or Swim Dock, the island destinations for magical
White Sand beaches is the 12-mile long Grace Bay
beach. The Beach runs from Turtle Cove Harbour
to Leeward. The Grace Bay beach is a 10-minute
drive away and is available for public use along
its entire length.
We would also recommend a charter to take a group
to one of the uninhabited islands just minutes
north of Providenciales. Picnic lunches and alternative
water-borne incursions can be arranged. There
is good hiking available on the Middle Caicos
island.

Swimming
from the Villa's Dock:
Just 20 yards offshore the Villa is a protected
Coral Reef, stretching 1.5 miles either side of
the Villa. A leisurely swim away is the Beach
at Thompson Cove (to the left of the Villa).
Swimming from the dock is recommended. There is
complete privacy and no offshore boating traffic
due to the shallow reef. Only in very stormy seas
will there be any waves of significance. As common
sense would dictate, children and inexperienced
swimmers should not be allowed to swim without
supervision of a proficient adult swimmer.
Spa
Treatments:
The are several Spas on island for Sport and beauty
therapy.

Golf & Tennis:
The Provo Golf & Country Club is a surprisingly
high quality Golf & Tennis club. The Golf Course
is a lushly landscaped, 18-hole, par 72-championship
course. Green fees include cart rental. The Club
provides 6 lighted outdoor tennis courts. The
Changing facilities and Clubhouse Bar & Grill
are very comfortable.

Sport Fishing:
All manner fishing is available just offshore
from the islands. Bottom and Reef Fishing are
best for half-day tours and the wide variety of
the catch - these can often be combined with a
deserted beach drop-off for other passengers.
For the keener Sportsperson, the BoneFish available
in the many shallow flats of the islands is unbeatable.
A true test of a fly fisherman! There are also
numerous deep-sea fishing charters operating from
Turtle Cove or Leeward Marinas.

Night Life:
After a day in the sun, one might be tempted by
the numerous beach front bars and restaurants
along Grace Bay. There are also several evening
hot spots - if you are so inclined. Prices are
similar to restaurants in a major city. There
are no "formal" restaurants on the island as most
are outdoors and the temperature does not promote
long sleeve shirts or trousers. There are some
very good chef's on island as a result of the
holiday condominium rental community.
